About the Role

Network Finance is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for taking full ownership of end-to-end underwriting across complex small-business and middle-market transactions. You will also contribute to underwriting policy refinement, risk framework development, and mentorship within the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently underwrite and approve (within mandate) complex middle-market transactions
• Conduct full financial statement analysis, bank statement reviews, and detailed cash flow modelling
• Assess borrower and guarantor strength using traditional and alternative data sources
• Identify credit, operational, and structural risks and recommend appropriate mitigants
• Prepare clear, well-structured credit memoranda supporting approval, decline, or counter-offers

Requirements

• 4–10 years progressive credit underwriting experience
• Strong exposure to middle-market or upper-SMB lending
• Proven ability to independently underwrite full credit files
• Deep understanding of:
• Cash flow-based lending and repayment capacity analysis
• Complex entity structures (operating/holding company models)
• Guarantor analysis and personal guarantee frameworks
• Collateral strategy and secured lending principles
• Strong written communication skills with clear credit rationale articulation
• High level of accountability and comfort operating with limited oversight
