North West: Maintenance Engineer (12-Month Contract) posted by Marvel Placement Consultant

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
• GCC Mines & Works (Mechanical or Electrical) will be advantageous.
• Strong experience with maintenance management systems and reliability engineering.
• Solid knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and applicable engineering standards.
• Experience with mobile mining equipment, fixed plant, and processing equipment will be beneficial.
• Proven ability in preventative maintenance planning, equipment reliability improvement, and breakdown management.
• Computer literacy (MS Office and CMMS / maintenance systems).
• Medically fit to work in a mining environment.

 Roles & Responsibilities

• Ensure all engineering maintenance activities and equipment installations comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and site engineering standards.
• Develop, implement, and optimise planned maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and availability.
• Monitor and analyse equipment performance and failure trends, implementing corrective actions to reduce downtime.
• Conduct root cause analysis on mechanical or electrical failures and implement sustainable solutions.
• Perform regular inspections of plant and equipment to identify potential risks, defects, and non-compliance.
• Support capital projects, plant upgrades, and equipment optimisation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
• Manage and coordinate contractors and maintenance teams, ensuring all work is executed safely and to specification.
• Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and engineering records are maintained in line with operational standards.
• Work closely with production, engineering, and safety teams to support operational targets and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Assist with budget control, maintenance planning, and resource allocation within the engineering function.
