About the Role
As a Specialist Support Engineer in our Johannesburg office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our virtualisation and storage infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining our VMware environment to ensure high availability and optimal performance, while also overseeing enterprise backup solutions using Veeam Backup & Replication.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the VMware virtual infrastructure environment to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Oversee enterprise backup solutions using Veeam Backup & Replication, supporting both IT and operational technology environments.
- Administer and support user backup services to ensure reliable data protection and recovery.
- Manage server hardware infrastructure, including monitoring, maintenance, and performance optimisation.
- Lead and support special IT infrastructure projects as required.
- Coordinate and manage third-party vendors and contractors to ensure effective service delivery.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date MIS documentation and system records.
- Ensure compliance with organisational safety policies and procedures.
- Support and implement basis safety practice (BSP) initiatives in daily operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Information Systems or equivalent is required.
- Min 10 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator on Windows Server / VMware Administrator / Backup Administrator.
- Veeam Certification in the following MCSA / MCSE for Windows Server, MCITP Enterprise Administrator for Windows VMWare certified (VCP6/VCP7/VCP8/VCP9).
- IBM Certified Specialist credentials in System X, IBM Storage, IBM Tap and IBM Fibre A.
- Willingness to travel as an operational requirement with a valid driver’s license.
