About the Role
Mayfly Agri is seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to lead our regional sales efforts in Mpumalanga and Free State. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, developing key relationships, and executing strategic plans to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading, managing, mentoring, and developing regional agents and sales representatives to achieve high performance.
- Driving and consistently delivering regional sales targets across the maize, soybean, dry bean, and pasture seed portfolios.
- Developing and expanding the commercial and retail customer base in Mpumalanga and Free State.
- Conducting regular farm visits and effectively managing key strategic accounts.
- Executing product positioning, hybrid placement strategies, and technical recommendations.
- Coordinating trial feedback, agronomic insights, and market intelligence with the Agronomy Division.
- Monitoring competitor activity, pricing strategies, and emerging market trends.
- Managing regional sales forecasting, budgeting, and stock planning to optimize availability and minimize risk.
- Supporting debtor management, credit control, and collection processes within the region.
- Organizing and executing farmer days, product demonstrations, and promotional campaigns.
- Ensuring strong brand visibility, retail execution standards, and in-store merchandising excellence.
- Compiling and submitting accurate monthly performance, sales, and market reports.
- Identifying and pursuing new growth opportunities and potential expansion areas in the region.
- Building and maintaining long-term strategic relationships with key stakeholders, cooperatives, and retailers.
Requirements
- A Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in agriculture.
- Strong technical knowledge of maize and soybean markets is essential.
- Established relationships within the Mpumalanga and Free State agricultural sectors is advantageous.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- A valid driver’s license and be willing to travel extensively within the region.
