About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to join our team in Port Elizabeth, responsible for managing product interfaces, contributing to engineering change management, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the product interface with product development, contributing to the engineering change management process, while supporting continuous improvement and production.
- Design, implement, and monitor production processes, ensuring feasibility, productivity, and quality of products.
- Follow start-up of all premium wrapping/sewing machines on site to get standards and best practices.
- Prepare initial samples with plant and project teams for final customer according to quality standards and time schedule.
- Put control measures in place to ensure stability of production.
- Examine feasibility of new premium wrapping processes and products, validating improvements before starting production mode.
- Train and coach operators on processes.
- Contribute to improvement of maintenance procedures.
- Propose and implement continuous productivity (SMED, CIG) and quality (scrap) improvement actions concerning injection processes.
- Manage technical processes, parameters, and tooling for relevant processes.
- Set and control process parameters.
- Lead QRCI process to investigate quality concerns caused by process/equipment.
- Integrate ergonomic principles in equipment and plant layout.
- Support maintenance in root cause analysis for equipment failures.
- Review of process flow diagrams.
- Manage product interface with product development.
- Contribute to engineering change process.
- Support continuous improvement activities.
- Define and update cycle times in line with planned Takt times.
- Define product specifications, supporting tooling and equipment buy-off process with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure continuous improvement by capitalising on lessons learnt, providing best practices using available tools.
Requirements
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive and engineering
- Extensive knowledge of material qualities
- FMEA and RFMEA development and maintenance
- BOM management and auditing
- Problem-solving methodology (8D Tool, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Good MS Word and MS Excel skills
- Technically skilled in product and process design
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- International mindset, with the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
- English required; other languages are a plus

- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
