About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Southgate store is seeking a Dispensary Support to join our team on a Fixed Term basis. The main purpose of this role is to employ learners who are capable of completing the learner basic pharmacist assistant course, equipping them with the underlying principles of the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing. This opportunity will promote quality on-the-job learning and provide a stepping stone for future permanent employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Unpacking and merchandising of stock, cleaning of dispensary and OTC shelves, and other duties as assigned by the Dispensary Manager.
- Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner within legal requirements.
- Check medication for accuracy, manage cleanliness and packing organisation of shelves and medicine expiry dates.
- Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports and follow-up appointments.
- Assist with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls.
- Provide information to promote health and assist with scheme authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science and/or Physical Science obtained at an average of 50%.
- Completed proficiency test approving registration with the Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in two languages.
