About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Southgate store is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Dispensary Support. This Fixed Term position will equip learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a registered Basic Pharmacist Assistant, allowing them to work under the supervision of a pharmacist in our dispensary.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Unpacking and merchandising of stock and cleaning of dispensary and OTC shelves as approved by the responsible pharmacist.
- Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner within legal requirements.
- Check medication for accuracy, ensuring proper picking, packing, labelling, and checking.
- Manage cleanliness and organisation of shelves and medicine expiry dates for Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the dispensary manager.
- Assist with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls.
- Provide information to promote health and assist with scheme authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science, and/or Physical Science obtained at least an average of 50%.
- Completed proficiency test approving registration with Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in two official languages.
