About the Role
Faircape Restaurant and Catering, part of Faircape Life retirement villages, operates in 6 prime locations across the Western Cape, providing dining services to village residents and patients in the onsite healthcare centres. We are seeking a Waiter to join the team at our facility Tokai Estate within the Southern Suburbs.
Key Responsibilities
- Changing table linen as required and ensuring dirty or damaged linen is counted and exchanged for clean, usable items.
- Cleaning and refilling cruet and condiment sets.
- Setting tables to laid-down standards, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair.
- Maintaining designated areas to meet required hygiene standards.
- Having thorough knowledge of all menu items to confidently recommend or explain options to residents.
- Serving food and beverages in accordance with laid-down standards, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Practicing excellent customer relations at all times, accommodating resident needs without inconveniencing other guests.
- Handling customer complaints effectively and reporting all complaints to the manager.
- Assisting with daily, weekly and monthly stock audits, reporting variances or breakages to your manager.
- Restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies.
- Ensuring accurate billing of orders and reporting any errors to the manager.
- Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
- Being willing to assist outside of normal working hours with private events as required.
Requirements
Proven experience as Waiter, Barista experience advantageous. Knowledge of serving etiquette and basic wine knowledge. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrates a sense of urgency. Capability to work effectively within a team to achieve common goals and ensure seamless service. Focuses on achieving excellence and maintaining high-quality standards.
Salary & Benefits
A competitive salary, dependent on qualifications, experience, and other market-related factors. The total salary will include:
- Sundays – remunerated at time and a half
- Public holidays – double
- Quarterly bonuses paid every 3 months (discretionary and based on individual performance and company performance)
