About the Role
The Finalisation and Publishing Supervisor will oversee the entire publication process, ensuring timely completion of tasks and high-quality manuscripts. This role involves supervising a team of language editors, proofreaders, and production staff to achieve excellence in production editing, proofreading, and publishing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign tasks to editors and proofreaders
- Monitor workflow to ensure timely completion of tasks
- Provide guidance and oversight to the team
- Ensure edited and proofread manuscripts meet journal standards
- Coordinate the editing and proofreading process for submitted manuscripts
- Manage galley proofing, reviewing typeset proofs for accuracy and consistency
- Oversee revisions based on author feedback and recommendations
- Develop and implement production schedules to ensure timely publication of all content
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflow and implement processes
- Provide training and coaching for language editors, proofreaders, and production staff
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback
- Control and monitor the budget
- Enforce quality and customer service standards
Requirements
- Supervisory skills: Proven work experience as a supervisor or relevant role
- Proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and other English-language skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to plan and execute complex production schedules with precision
- Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations
- Highly effective supervisory skills and techniques
- Familiarity with company policies and legal guidelines of the field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational, time management, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well under pressure
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in People Management, Production Management, Publishing, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Valid drivers licence (minimum requirement)
