Job Description
- Must have subtropical fruit farming experience, with ideally 5 years’ experience in avocado farming
- Minimum 5 years’ management experience
- Experience managing multiple farms is essential
- Must be fluent in English (Read, Write, Speak)
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Delivering, through appropriate plans and in accordance with the agreed policies and procedures, the vision, mission, and objectives of the Group.
- Maximizing yields using best-in-industry practices to achieve business plan and budget targets.
- Ensuring that all input costs are being maintained and staying within budget targets.
- Guiding, mentoring, and empowering farm managers at the farms to ensure smooth, efficient, sustainable, and profitable operations.
- Ensuring all farm managers have the necessary skills, competencies, and motivation to deliver the company’s vision and achieve budgets sustainably without compromising quality.
- Preparing, in consultation with the MD, annual business and operations plans and budgets, including capital expense budgets, and presenting them to the Board for approval.
- Preparing short-term forecasts on a need basis.
- Constantly innovating and improving processes with cost reduction in mind.
- Ensuring that all farms are maintaining audit standards such as Fairtrade, ETI, etc., throughout the year.
- Working closely with consultants and ensuring that all recommendations are being implemented in a timely manner.
- Managing farm equipment and assets in good condition with regular servicing.
- Setting targets and goals with measurable KPIs for all farm and production managers.
- Overseeing adherence to laid-down production, harvesting, and post-harvest codes of practice.
- Preparing and presenting monthly production, packhouse, and other management reports to the board.
- Directing the planning and managing of farm operations and farm business administration.
- Ensuring safety in all staff operations through adherence to safety regulations during farm operations.
- Maintaining production, farm records, operating costs, and other farm data accurately.
- Monitoring performance and productivity of employees.
