About the Role

The Bible Society of South Africa (BSSA) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead its strategic direction, governance, and operational activities. As a key member of the Board of Directors and Regional Committees, the CEO will be responsible for providing visionary leadership, implementing policies, and driving national and international objectives in fundraising, Bible translation, production, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities

Provision of strategic and visionary leadership, governance, and management of the BSSA
Implementation and execution of policy and strategy
Accomplishment of national and international objectives in respect of fundraising, Bible translation, production, and distribution in all languages and formats
Corporate and Risk Management
Financial Management
Human Resource Management
External Liaison
Public Relations
Operational Management
International work as member of the United Bible Societies
General administration

Requirements

Management and leadership experience on a senior level
A relevant management qualification
Knowledge/experience within the broader ecumenical environment
Appropriate theological qualification and experience in church work
Status as ordained minister will serve as a recommendation
A Christian who believes that the Bible is the word of God
Theological and missiological understanding of Bible mission landscape
Good working knowledge of applicable legislation and corporate management principles
Practical knowledge/experience of financial administration, marketing, and business environment
Knowledge of Bible Society work (national & international)
Proven public relations and negotiation skills
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
Highest level of ethics, integrity, and professionalism
Computer literate

Qualifications

Management and leadership qualifications (e.g., MBA, MS in Management)
