About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly capable 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer to join their technical team in Cape Town City Centre. This role requires an individual who enjoys owning complex problems end-to-end and can work independently with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert-level support across Microsoft cloud technologies, networking, servers, and endpoints, acting as the escalation point for more junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot authentication failures, networking issues, security incidents, Conditional Access policies, Intune deployments, and hybrid infrastructure challenges
- Mentor junior engineers, guiding rather than dictating, and documenting solutions properly
- Provide expert-level support across Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Defender, Conditional Access)
- Act as an escalation point for more junior engineers
- Manage multiple priorities independently in a remote setup
Requirements
- Experience in a 2nd or 3rd line IT support role (MSP experience strongly beneficial)
- Strong troubleshooting ability across Microsoft 365
- Solid networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, firewall concepts
- Windows Server administration experience (Active Directory, Group Policy, core services)
- Endpoint support across Windows and macOS environments
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to escalate when needed
Qualifications
Matric / Grade 12 required. IT certifications or tertiary qualification advantageous, but not essential.
