About the Role
The Director: Business Regulation position is a critical role within the Office of the Consumer Protection, requiring a seasoned professional to lead the business regulation functions and drive strategic planning for the Directorate. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the office, developing and implementing consumer education programs, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Office of the Consumer Protector
- Identify, devise and implement measures to raise awareness of the OCP and its services
- Develop and implement consumer education and awareness programmes
- Provide and maintain effective means for consumers to lodge complaints and queries
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws such as Consumer Protection Act and Business Act
- Investigate allegations of prohibited conduct in terms of the Consumer Protection Act
- Manage the formal legal proceedings instituted within the Tribunal
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and prescripts
Requirements
- A LLB qualification (4-year B degree) as recognised by SAQA or equivalent
- 5 years middle management experience
- Proven knowledge of and working experience with the legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions
- Proven knowledge and understanding of information systems that aid in the management of knowledge and information pertaining to the line function
