Field Service Technician (Combustion Systems) – Cape Town Salary: Market-related About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician specializing in the combustion industry to handle the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex combustion systems. In this role, you will ensure the efficient and safe operation of equipment, troubleshoot issues, perform detailed inspections, and ensure compliance with strict industry standards. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering background knowledge, a practical understanding of boilers and burners, and the ability to operate independently both locally and abroad. Key Responsibilities Service, Installations & Commissioning: Attend to system breakdowns, review specifications for materials, execute burner modifications/retrofits, and conduct startup and commissioning. Travel & Client Liaison: Travel both locally and internationally for projects, managing site readiness, client coordination, and on-site training for equipment users. Sales & Revenue Contribution: Identify upselling opportunities on site, participate in client presentations to explain operational efficiencies, and actively promote Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Administration & Reporting: Draw up Bills of Materials (BOM), design panel drawings/layouts, complete accurate customer quotes, process site reports for accounts, and manage remote monitoring data. Team Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior technicians during installation processes. What You Need to Bring Education: B Tech, M. Eng, or N. Dip in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 4 to 8 years in an industrial or engineering environment is highly advantageous, alongside 3 to 4 years of specific experience in the installation of burners and boilers (especially relating to green energy). Technical Skills: Commissioning of burners/boilers, basic electrical knowledge (ELC1 and ELC2), and the ability to issue Certificates of Compliance (COC). Systems & Software: Computer literacy with MS Office Suite, MS Teams, and exposure to Accpac or Xero. Accreditations (Advantageous): SANS 329 / SANS 347 accreditation.
