About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Relations (IR) Officer to join our team in Cape Town City Centre on a 1-year fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and support on IR matters, ensuring compliance with South African labour laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft notices and chair hearings as required
- Interact with clients and employees to resolve disputes and provide guidance
- Attend CCMA and Council arbitrations and assist in the preparation of documents
- Provide administrative support, including filing and maintaining company policies and procedures
- Develop and implement IR protocols, operating procedures, and handbooks
- Ensure staff awareness of IR protocols and regulations, and provide access to relevant handbooks
- Collaborate with operations managers on disciplinary action, including document preparation and hearing attendance
- Support IR and operational managers on CCMA, Bargaining Councils, or Labour Court referrals
- Provide continuous revision, internal training, and updates on IR and recent case law
- Manage conflict between parties and employees, and assist in the induction of new staff on the code of conduct and IR protocols
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric or Equivalent Qualification
- Certificate, degree, diploma, or other relevant experience relating to HR, IR/ ER, SA Labour Legislation
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
