About the Role
SA Metal is seeking a qualified Turner to join their Machine Shop department. We are looking for a detail-oriented, process-driven individual who is dedicated to delivering high-quality work. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our machinery and maintaining the highest standards of quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine detailed drawings or specifications to establish job, material and equipment requirements
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance practices on existing equipment
- Ability to strip, examine and identify mechanical defects on equipment under repair
- Operate machines to produce parts or tools by turning, boring, milling and or shaping
- Slotting or drilling metal stock or components
- Ensuring that the quality of work is up to the required standards
- Fit and assemble metal parts and tools or sub-assemblies
- Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools
- Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies
- Abide by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Qualified Red Seal Trade Test certificate
- Minimum of 8 years post trade test work experience within a similar environment
- Extensive knowledge of power tools and various metal materials
- Strength to handle materials and tools (physically fit)
- Good hand-eye coordination
