About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Turner (Turning & Milling) to join our client’s team in Cape Town, Western Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining precision components using conventional and/or CNC turning and milling machines, ensuring high-quality output in line with engineering drawings and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain lathe (turning) and milling machines (manual and/or CNC)
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Manufacture components to tight tolerances and quality standards
  • Perform tool setting, calibration, and adjustments for optimal machining performance
  • Conduct routine inspections and measurements using precision instruments (micrometers, verniers, gauges)
  • Ensure machine maintenance and report any faults or breakdowns
  • Assist with repairs, rework, and modifications of components and assemblies
  • Maintain production records and adhere to job card requirements
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and efficiency

Requirements

  • Trade Test Certificate Qualified Turner / Machinist
  • Minimum 35 years experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Proven experience with:
  • Conventional turning (lathe work)
  • Milling machines (manual and/or CNC)
