Job Description

A leading global manufacturing company is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their team Remotely . Reporting to the Finance Controller, you will drive operational excellence by performing complex account reconciliations, ensuring strict compliance with JSOX and statutory requirements, and producing high-quality financial reports using SAP and Excel. To be considered, you should possess a post-matric accounting qualification or a strong Matric background paired with 2 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. If you are a deadline-driven problem solver with an eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality work standards, we want to hear from you. Responsibilities: Preparing and distributing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and loading them into the SMART system. Assisting with internal and external financial audits, including JSOX compliance and documentation. Managing assigned month-end journals and conducting cost center reviews to correct mispostings. Administering staff expense claims, insurance claims, and vehicle management. Handling credit card (Citi) month-end accruals, VAT treatment, and outstanding claim follow-ups. Managing fuel card (FNB) journals, payroll reports, and quarterly analysis for management. Serving as the “Invoice Manager” for South Africa to ensure purchase orders are correctly coded to the General Ledger and approved. Resolving Accounts Payable queries for local staff and the AP team. Calculating weekly foreign payments due and confirming trades processed within SAP. Preparing monthly customer recharges for processing. Providing information to the HR Manager required for BEE audits. Submitting required documentation to Citi for all foreign vendors. Requirements: Preferably BCom OR Matric Maths and accounting with experience. Practical knowledge of an SAP Environment including analysis of all variance accounts. Ability to produce financial reports of high quality and clarity, providing analysis in a consistent format. Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel to work efficiently and effectively within the role. Understanding the requirements of JSOX and Statutory Financial auditing (Internal and External). Ability to tailor data and information to the specific needs and level of end users with non-financial backgrounds.
