Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE The Storeman is responsible for the efficient receiving, storage, handling, issuing and control of stock within the warehouse environment to ensure accurate inventory management and uninterrupted operational support. The role supports production, assembly, dispatch and internal departments by maintaining organised stock levels of electronic components, garage door remotes, automation accessories, motors, spare parts and related products. The Storeman is responsible for ensuring that goods are handled safely, inventory records remain accurate and warehouse procedures are followed in line with company standards. The incumbent will also operate material handling equipment, including a Hyster (forklift), to move stock safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of housekeeping, stock control and workplace safety. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Receiving and Dispatch Receive incoming stock, materials and products against purchase orders and delivery notes. Inspect incoming goods for damages, shortages or discrepancies and report variances immediately. Ensure accurate unloading, labelling and storage of electronic products, automation equipment, accessories and spare parts. Prepare stock for dispatch according to picking slips, customer orders and delivery schedules. Assist with loading and offloading deliveries using the Hyster/forklift where required. Stock Control and Inventory Management Pick, pack and issue stock accurately for production, internal sales and customer requirements. Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts and assist with annual stock takes. Ensure stock is correctly captured, labelled, rotated and stored in designated locations. Monitor stock movement and report damaged, obsolete or slow-moving stock. Maintain accurate warehouse documentation and inventory records. Warehouse Operations Operate Hyster/forklift equipment safely and in accordance with health and safety procedures. Ensure the warehouse remains clean, organised and compliant with safety regulations. Maintain proper storage of electronic components and sensitive stock to prevent damage. Assist with returns, transfers and stock reconciliations. Support production and technical departments with material requirements. Compliance and Safety Adhere to company health and safety policies and warehouse procedures. Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance issues. Ensure compliance with stock security and loss prevention measures. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 / Matric Certificate. Minimum 5 years proven experience as a Storeman or Warehouse Assistant , preferably within an electronics, manufacturing, automation or technical environment. Valid Hyster/Forklift License (essential). Experience handling stock, inventory systems and warehouse documentation. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and stock/inventory systems. Good understanding of warehouse processes, stock control and logistics procedures. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Good communication and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Physically fit and capable of handling warehouse duties and stock movement.
