About the Role
We are looking for a CAD Draughtsperson with machine design experience to support the development of custom-built mechanical systems and equipment. This position is suited to a technically strong draughtsperson who understands assemblies, moving components, tolerances, and manufacturability within a machine-building environment.
You will work closely with design engineers to translate conceptual designs into accurate 3D models and production-ready manufacturing drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D models and assemblies for custom machinery
  • Produce machining, fabrication, and assembly drawings
  • Detail components such as shafts, brackets, housings, frames, and mechanical sub-assemblies
  • Apply correct fits, tolerances, and surface finish requirements
  • Assist with bill of materials preparation and drawing pack compilation
  • Update and revise drawings throughout the design and manufacturing lifecycle
  • Support prototype builds and incorporate design refinements
  • Maintain organised CAD libraries and revision control systems
  • Collaborate with engineering and workshop teams to ensure build accuracy

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • N4–N6 or Diploma in Mechanical Draughting (or equivalent)
  • Approximately 2–6 years’ experience in machine design or equipment draughting
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software
  • Understanding of fits, tolerances, and material selection
  • Exposure to FEA-ready modelling practices advantageous
  • Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple drawing packages under supervision
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
