About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong petrochemical industry exposure to lead mechanical engineering projects within complex processing environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing mechanical design, equipment specification, plant modifications, and ensuring compliance with industry codes and safety standards. This role requires strong technical leadership and the ability to interface confidently with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering design and execution for petrochemical plant projects.
    – Develop equipment specifications, datasheets, and technical requisitions.
    – Perform mechanical design calculations and equipment sizing.
    – Review vendor documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements.
    – Ensure adherence to applicable industry codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO, etc.).
    – Conduct site inspections, condition assessments, and troubleshooting activities.
    – Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and draughtsmen.
    – Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, and risk assessments.
    – Support commissioning and plant start-up activities where required.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/BSc).
    – Minimum of 8 years’ experience in petrochemical or heavy industrial environments.
    – Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment used in petrochemical plants.
    – Experience with pressure vessels, piping systems, pumps, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
    – Sound understanding of relevant industry codes and standards.
    – Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
    – ECSA registration preferred.
    – Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
    – Willingness to travel to sites when required.
