Centurion: Mechanical Design Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities Design and develop components and assemblies for 40mm grenade launcher systems Perform detailed mechanical calculations and tolerancing suited to military applications Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) Collaborate with prototyping, testing, and manufacturing teams to refine designs Ensure all systems comply with safety standards, functional specifications, and defence regulations Participate in internal and external design reviews Support testing, evaluation, and documentation aligned with NATO/military standards Investigate and resolve engineering issues during development and production phases Experience and Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field Direct experience designing or developing 40mm grenade launchers Strong CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) Familiarity with military standards , ballistics , and material selection for weapon systems Experience with prototyping and functional testing in a defence or aerospace environment Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to design precision and compliance South African citizenship (due to defence export control regulations) Must be based in or willing to relocate to Centurion
