About the Role
An established FMCG company is seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Cashbook Clerk to join their finance team on a 5-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate cashbook records, processing daily transactions, and assisting with general finance administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and reconcile daily bank transactions
- Perform cashbook processing and allocations
- Reconcile bank statements to the general ledger
- Process payments and ensure accurate allocation of receipts
- Assist with month-end closing procedures
- Prepare bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
- Assist with petty cash management
- Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding payment queries
- Support the finance team with ad hoc administrative duties
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (Accounting advantageous)
- Relevant financial qualification (Certificate/Diploma) advantageous
- 2–3 years’ experience in a cashbook or similar finance role
- Experience within FMCG or high-volume transactional environments advantageous
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience working on accounting software (Pastel preferred)
