About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts, and preparing monthly VAT submissions in East London. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns in compliance with relevant tax regulations
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all entries are accurate and up to date
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes
- Ensure all financial records are properly filed and stored
- Liaise with accountants, auditors, and tax authorities when required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role
- Experience preparing and submitting monthly VAT returns
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information
