About the Role
The Production Group Leader will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our production facilities, while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and experience in supervisory capacities.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and enforce safety compliance, ensuring adherence to all safety standards, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Coordinate line functions through Team Leaders to ensure production targets and schedules are achieved.
- Monitor and manage production performance, identifying and resolving constraints impacting output.
- Ensure product quality standards are met and drive reduction of scrap, rework, and defects.
- Ensure adequate resources (manpower, equipment, materials) are available and optimally utilised.
- Lead, coach, and develop Team Leaders and subordinates, ensuring performance management in line with company procedures and legislation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, productivity, and OEE.
- Monitor and control costs, including overtime, waste, and resource utilisation.
- Ensure accurate reporting, shift handovers, and escalation of risks and issues.
Requirements
- NQF Level 5 Qualified Artisan or National Diploma in Production Management.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Extensive technical background.
- Knowledge of quality specifications and systems.
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications are required for this role.
