About the Role
Hospitality Hire is partnering with The Drostdy Hotel in Graaff Reinet, proudly managed by Valor Hospitality Partners, to recruit an exceptional Hotel Manager for this iconic luxury boutique property. Situated in the heart of Graaff Reinet, The Drostdy Hotel is a celebrated historic landmark that blends Karoo heritage with refined boutique luxury. The hotel is known for its elegant design, exceptional service, and authentic South African hospitality. This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior hospitality professional to lead a respected luxury property under a globally recognised management group.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily leadership across all hotel departments
- Guide and support Heads of Department to achieve service and business objectives
- Maintain luxury service standards and ensure SOPs are consistently applied
- Anticipate operational challenges and implement proactive solutions
- Serve as Acting General Manager when required
- Ensure warm, personalised and high touch guest experiences
- Engage with guests, VIPs and returning clientele
- Respond to guest feedback and lead service recovery
- Continuously improve guest satisfaction and service quality
- Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, forecasting and reporting
- Monitor departmental performance and implement corrective actions
- Maximise room revenue, yield and upselling opportunities
- Implement effective cost control measures
- Lead, coach and mentor all Heads of Department
- Conduct performance reviews and succession planning
- Build a culture of teamwork, accountability and excellence
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation and staff well being
Requirements
- Seven to ten years hospitality experience with at least three years in a senior management role
- Strong background in boutique hotels, luxury properties or high end hospitality environments
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Opera, Micros or similar PMS or POS systems
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management preferred
