Job Description
Hire Resolve’s client, a leading chemical company that provides a wide range of innovative chemical solutions to industries such as agriculture, automotive, construction, and manufacturing, is currently seeking a dedicated Shift Leader to join our client’s team in Port Elizabeth, EC.
Responsibilities
- Manage shift operations and staff in the production department.
- Ensure safety, quality, and production targets are met.
- Monitor progress and adjust plans to meet operational goals.
- Train and develop team members.
- Oversee resource and equipment use efficiently.
- Handle system tasks like SAP, TPM, and Power-BI reporting.
- Investigate and resolve process issues quickly.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and legal standards.
- Drive continuous improvement using lean principles.
- Ensure maintenance and production schedules are followed.
Requirements
- 3-year technical or operations (production) tertiary qualification (post-graduate qualification preferred).
- Minimum of 6 years experience in a production/manufacturing environment, ideally in the automotive industry.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a continuous shift operation.
- Strong knowledge of QMS, MES, and ERP systems.
- Practical experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and WCM principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and project management capabilities.
- Familiarity with South African manufacturing regulations (OHS Act, BCEA, LRA, PMA).
- Ability to demonstrate customer focus, collaboration, innovation, and continuous self and team development.
