About the Role

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef for a luxury game reserve based in the Eastern Cape. This is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional who thrives within a remote, high-end hospitality environment and is committed to delivering exceptional dining experiences in line with five-star standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef with the overall management of the kitchen
  • Ensure consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes
  • Supervise and support kitchen staff during service
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety
  • Assist with menu planning and seasonal dish development
  • Ensure effective stock control, ordering, and ingredient rotation
  • Monitor portion control and minimise waste
  • Ensure all dietary requirements and guest preferences are met accurately
  • Support the training and development of junior kitchen staff
  • Maintain smooth kitchen operations during service periods
  • Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets the property’s standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef within a luxury lodge or five-star hospitality environment
  • Strong culinary skills with excellent attention to detail and presentation
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure within a remote environment
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Ability to lead the kitchen confidently in the absence of the Executive Chef
