About the Role

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a motivated and passionate Junior Sous Chef for a luxury game reserve based in the Eastern Cape. This is an excellent opportunity for a culinary professional looking to grow within a 5-star safari environment and develop their skills under the guidance of an experienced Executive Chef team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and service of high-quality dishes
• Support the Sous Chef and Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations
• Ensure consistent food presentation in line with lodge standards
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards at all times
• Assist with stock control, receiving, and rotation of ingredients
• Support menu preparation and daily specials where required
• Ensure dietary requirements and guest preferences are correctly followed
• Assist in training and guiding junior kitchen staff
• Maintain smooth and efficient kitchen operations during service
• Step up and support leadership responsibilities when required

Requirements

Previous experience in a professional kitchen, preferably within a lodge or 5-star environment

Strong basic culinary skills and a willingness to develop further

Ability to work well under pressure in a remote environment

Good communication and teamwork skills

Understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices

Passion for hospitality and guest satisfaction
