About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Waiter to join our team at La Residence in Franschhoek for a maternity cover contract from April to October. As a key member of our Front of House Department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional guest experiences and contributing to the company’s purpose of providing a complete experience and perfect stay.
Key Responsibilities
- Service of food and beverage in Dining Rooms, pool areas, and all outdoor service areas
- Set up and clearing away
- Greet guests warmly with a fresh posy and welcome drink on arrival
- Ensure all FOH Waiter duties are carried out according to daily checklists
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of FOH areas during shifts and before leaving your shift
- Understand and communicate daily menu, having up-to-date knowledge of the menu and wine lists
- Upsell at every opportunity (beverage, cigars)
- Perform each duty as per the company’s standard operating procedures
- Prepare and service all beverages
- Pass on orders to the kitchen quickly
- Ensure all food sent from the kitchen is up to standard
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and speak to management about possible improvements
- Assist with all service, set-ups, and breakdowns of functions and returning of service providers’ stock
Requirements
- At least 2 years’ experience in a 5* Hotel as a Waiter
- Exceptional food and beverage knowledge, preferably with additional industry certifications
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication, and attention to detail
- Flexible with working nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of the Property Management System at Operator Level Opera & Micro’s; computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
