About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Breakfast Sous Chef to join our team in Franschhoek. As a key member of our kitchen operations, you will be responsible for leading and managing the breakfast service, ensuring high-quality dishes, and maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the breakfast service kitchen operations
- Prepare and execute high-quality breakfast dishes
- Ensure consistency, presentation, and quality across all dishes
- Manage breakfast prep and mise en place
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff during morning service
- Maintain excellent hygiene and food safety standards
- Assist the Executive Chef with menu development
- Ensure efficient stock control and ordering for breakfast operations
- Maintain a calm, organised kitchen during busy services
- Assist with kitchen operations as needed
Requirements
- Culinary Diploma
- Preferably 4 years previous experience in a senior chef role at a 5* hotel/restaurant
- Leadership and management skills
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef
- Passion for seasonal, farm-driven ingredients
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills
- Strong attention to detail and plating standards
- Positive attitude and ability to work within a professional kitchen team
- Ability to work in a team
- Basic computer skills (word, excel, outlook)
- Exceptional customer-service skills
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
- Strong organisational skills
