About the Role
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Sous Chef for a luxury private game reserve based in Hoedspruit. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate pastry professional to showcase their talent in a unique and high-end bush environment, delivering exceptional desserts and baked goods to discerning guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present high-quality pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods
- Design and develop innovative dessert menus in line with the property’s standards
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation across all offerings
- Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards within the pastry section
- Manage stock, ordering, and control of ingredients to minimise waste
- Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure seamless service
- Cater to dietary requirements and special guest requests
- Monitor and control food costs within the pastry department
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry kitchen at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef within a luxury hospitality environment
- Strong creativity and passion for pastry arts
- Solid understanding of baking techniques, ingredients, and presentation
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Positive attitude with a strong focus on guest satisfaction
