About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and creative Head Chef to join our luxury boutique hotel on the Garden Route. As a key leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, delivering exceptional fine dining experiences aligned with a luxury brand standard, and driving innovation through refined, seasonal, and farm-to-table cuisine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality cuisine
  • Lead, train, mentor, and motivate the kitchen team to achieve excellence
  • Develop innovative, seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced and farm-to-table ingredients
  • Manage kitchen budgets, food cost controls, stock levels, supplier relationships, and waste reduction
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Maintain strong guest interaction and hosting presence within the dining experience

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Senior Chef in a high-end 5-star lodge or hotel
  • Culinary Diploma or Degree from a reputable chefs’ academy (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of diverse cuisines and modern cooking techniques
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
  • Valid South African driver’s license
  • Solid track record with contactable references
