Our client, a well-established wine farm situated on Kromme Rhee Road outside Stellenbosch, is seeking a hands-on Farm Manager to join their team. This opportunity is suited to a practical and reliable individual with strong vineyard and equipment experience, good people management skills, and the ability to work closely with farm workers and operational teams. Key Responsibilities • Oversee the daily operations of the wine farm and vineyard activities. • Manage and supervise farm workers and related labour activities. • Operate and manage harvest machinery and tractors when required. • Assist with general mechanical and maintenance tasks on farming equipment. • Ensure vineyard spraying and fertiliser programmes are executed correctly using systems such as EPK and VITI/VITA. • Monitor productivity, quality, and general farm standards. • Coordinate harvesting and seasonal operational activities. • Maintain compliance with safety and operational procedures. Requirements • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar farm management or vineyard management role. • Experience operating harvest machines and tractors is essential. • Basic mechanical and maintenance knowledge. • Experience working with EPK and VITA/VITI systems. • Strong people management and communication skills. • Ability to work hands-on within a farming environment. • Valid driver’s licence. Farm Manager: Candidate must have a of guiding / wildlife qualification. Operating and Maintaining vehicle and farm equipment (Chainsaw, lawnmower, brush cutter etc.} Maintain of camp gardens and lawn (Irrigating, planting, removing weeds etc.) Maintaining and cleaning infrastructure of camp. General Pool maintenance. Removing and Controlling problem plants. Farm maintenance: Building and doing general maintenance on the farm, including mending fences, digging ditches, removing of fallen/dead branches. Maintaining roads of farm (Cutting over branches and small road repairs). Assist owners/management with projects around camp. Reporting/ Recordkeeping of any maintenance issues. If farm worker has valid drivers licence allocated to collect wood for camp, drive to and from problem plant control sites and road maintained). The ability to drive a tractor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS A relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture or a related field; 710 years practical experience in managing agricultural crop production and primary processing (fruit, field crops, or similar experience with rooibos not required); Experience in the management of hospitality/accommodation/adventure-tourism (in addition to practical farming experience); Good mechanical understanding and skills relating to general farm maintenance and irrigation systems; Good computer literacy (MS Office and general farming software); Excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English (written and spoken); Valid driver's license (including a truck driver's license and PDP); Must be physically healthy to perform the duties as required. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO Assist the General Manager with the management of all farming activities including production, irrigation, processing, and export of organic rooibos tea. Assist the General Manager with the management of the launch and ongoing daily operation of the hiking trail. Managing the cultivation, irrigation, harvesting, processing, annual export of organic rooibos tea Managing the remaining build, launch and ongoing operation of The Cederberg Trail, including bookings, welcoming hikers, logistics, cleaning, crew coordination, trail maintenance, and quality control of the trail experience Organization and execution of maintenance and repairs to all farm & hiking trail buildings, large scale irrigation systems, facilities, vehicles, implements and machinery Management 25 permanent staff and additional 35 seasonal workers Managing compliance with health and safety standards, relevant HR & agricultural legislation, and farm certifications (Global G.A.P Food Safety, Rainforest Alliance, Organic Certifications) Project management for ongoing farm infrastructure projects (new groundwater, irrigation projects, building expansions, etc.) Sharing responsibility with the General Manager for after-hours matters including scheduled weekend work All other duties related to the position.
