<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong> <br /> Grade 12 <br /> Degree / Diploma in Quality or Safety Management <br /> Computer Literacy (MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) <br /> Attention to detail <br /> Good administration skills <br /><br /><br /><strong>Job Requirements:</strong> <br /> Minimum 3 years experience as a SHEQ supervisor (packaging industry <br />advantageous) <br /> Ensure specific activities and duties are performed in accordance with Company Policy, <br />Customer Requirements and ISO Standards, eg. ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO18001 <br />(Health & Safety), FSC and FSSC22000. <br /> Ensure specific activities and duties are performed in accordance with Company Policy, <br />Legal and Statutory Requirements, OHSAS18001 and ISO ISO14001. <br /> Act as document and data controller for ISO9001; ISO22000. <br /> Maintaining the SHEQ link in the communication chain to facilitate the accurate and <br />efficient interchange of information to all relevant stakeholders in- and externally. <br /> Ability to work under pressure <br /> Ability to focus, prioritize and good time management <br /> Ability to work independently without supervision. <br /> Ability to work outside normal working hours when necessary (eg. prepare for audits <br />etc)<br /><br /><br /><strong>Your key responsibilities will be:</strong> <br /><br /><strong>Legal :</strong><br /> Ensure all legal appointments are current, signed and kept on file <br /> Chair monthly safety meeting <br /> Receive and review completed monthly stacking surveys, safety representative inspections, <br />job observations and toolbox talks and file <br /> Ensure that all required permits are applied for within the required time and are up to date<br /> Investigate any incidents/accidents with team members, prepare and distribute investigation <br />report within required time frame <br /> Report IODs to Department of Labour & complete all relevant documentation, <br />investigations, claims etc <br /> Attend to inspection and maintenance of all fire equipment including required servicing <br /><br /><strong>Management System</strong> <br /> Compile and distribute toolbox talks to all departments <br /> Issue non-conformance reports and coordinate action on non-conformances <br /> Liaise with departments to ensure that all MSDS are current and kept on file in areas of use <br /> Liaise with contract managers to ensure compliance to contractor procedure <br /> Compile safety files for contractors under your control <br /> Audit all contractor files & perform site visits <br /> Update system procedure, work instructions and records when required <br /> Prepare presentations and minutes of safety and SHE-management meetings <br /> Draw up a frequency chart for required items, such as inspections, testing, etc and update <br />when completed <br /> Attend / complete external customer audits and surveys when requested <br /> Ensure regular testing of equipment related to emergency preparedness <br /> Ensure all measuring devices are calibrated against set intervals <br /> Update of display boards, notices and signs <br /> Conduct internal audits in line with required standards and protocols <br /> Follow up on non-conformances raised during internal, external and legal audits, surveys, <br />third party, customer audits to ensure compliance to legal, management systems and <br />customer requirements. <br /> Prepare management review presentations, present review and distribute minutes. <br /> Draw up annual objectives for all relevant Standards with approval of the various <br />departmental heads and monitor progress monthly & feedback to KPI leaders. <br /> Ensure accurate reporting and capturing of monthly EMS & H&S data <br /><br /><strong>Training</strong> <br /> Conduct annual inductions with employees, contractors regarding SHE requirements <br /> Attend to emergency preparedness and arrange for evacuation, fire and other drills and <br />issue reports on such <br /> Complete the Competency and Training matrix for SHEQ with input from line management <br />and HR. <br /> Assist with internal training where necessary for personnel. <br /><br /><strong>Reporting</strong> <br /> Monitor usage of water, electricity, Heavy furnace oil, waste <br /> Distribute reports on progress of non-conformances weekly <br /> Compile required information for the company divisional office reporting system and input <br />correct data <br /> Compile a month end report for SHE and distribute <br /> Chair monthly SHE Committee meetings <br /> Ensure that risk assessments are in place for ALL activities & that supervisors train their <br />teams on their applicable risk assessments <br /><br /><strong>Other functions</strong> <br /> Oversee pickups and disposal of waste, check and sign off <br /> Assist line management with SHE issues <br /> Carry out any other reasonable tasks that may be required from Management.</p>
