About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Draughtsman with experience in substations to join our consulting engineering company. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating detailed electrical designs and layouts for various infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting for substations, overhead lines, and heavy current infrastructure
Creating high-level Single-Line Diagrams that represent the power flow and connectivity of the entire substation
Developing General Arrangement (GA) drawings, including plan views and elevations for equipment like transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear
Drafting detailed wiring diagrams, control schematics, and protection relay layouts
Coordinating with civil teams to draft foundations for heavy equipment, cable trenches, duct banks, and gantry tower supports
Preparing designs for earthing (grounding) grids, lightning protection systems, and switchyard illumination

Requirements

Minimum 3 years experience as a heavy current draughtsman working on substations
Must understand substation sizing, distances, and technical layouts
Proficient in Bentley and/or MicroStation software
Own reliable vehicle

Qualifications

Matric Electrical Engineering or Draughting Qualification (Advantageous)
