About the Role
The Director: Supply Chain Management (Higher Education) role at our client’s institution in Johannesburg is a senior leadership position responsible for driving excellence, compliance, innovation, and strategic value across the supply chain management environment. The successful candidate will lead and elevate the end-to-end procurement and supply chain function, aligning with institutional objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall performance and strategic direction of the Supply Chain Management Unit.
- Ensure an effective, efficient, and compliant SCM value chain aligned to institutional objectives.
- Drive excellence in procurement, tender administration, warehousing, distribution, supplier management, and contract management.
- Develop and implement SCM, Travel, and Asset Management policies aligned with legislation and best practice.
- Oversee demand management, expenditure control, and continuous risk assessment.
- Manage supplier performance, enterprise development targets, and stakeholder relationships.
- Lead and develop SCM talent within a dynamic, high-performance environment.
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure consistent operational standards.
- Oversee the institution’s asset management function.
Requirements
- Postgraduate/Honours degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (NQF 8).
- 8 years finance management experience, preferably within SCM.
- 5 years senior people-management experience in a medium to large organisation.
- 35 years direct SCM experience.
Qualifications
- A Masters degree.
- A Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification.
