About the Role
We are seeking a Field Guide with extensive experience in guiding in Big 5 reserves, to join our team in Johannesburg. As a Field Guide, you will be responsible for providing exceptional guest experiences, leading guided tours, and contributing to the conservation efforts of our lodges/reserves.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead guided tours and provide expert knowledge on wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation
- Engage with guests, respond to their queries, and ensure their safety and comfort
- Participate in reserve management and conservation activities
- Conduct tracking and animal behaviour interpretation
- Maintain situational awareness and risk assessment in high-pressure situations
- Perform basic vehicle checks and maintenance tasks
Requirements
- FGASA Level 1, 2, or 3 qualification (depending on lodge requirements)
- Full Trails Valid Driver’s License PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
- Registered with relevant guiding authorities (CATHSSETA, NDT/DEAT)
- Valid First Aid Level 1 or Rifle competency (SAPS) and ARH (Advanced Rifle Handling), if working in Big 5 Tracker qualifications or FGASA Trails Guide qualification
- 13 years of experience as a Field Guide (entry-level)
Qualifications
- Full Trails Valid Driver’s License PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
- Registered with relevant guiding authorities (CATHSSETA, NDT/DEAT)
- Valid First Aid Level 1 or Rifle competency (SAPS) and ARH (Advanced Rifle Handling), if working in Big 5 Tracker qualifications or FGASA Trails Guide qualification
