Johannesburg: Financial Manager Shared Services – Sub Saharan Africa

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Manager to lead our finance shared services team across Sub-Saharan Africa, driving a high-performance culture and ensuring consistent service delivery across multiple entities, countries, and business divisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a finance shared services team across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Financial Reporting functions.
  • Drive a high-performance culture through effective leadership, coaching, performance management, and employee development.
  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of finance shared services operations across multiple entities, countries, and business divisions.
  • Ensure consistent service delivery, process standardisation, and compliance with local regulatory requirements.
  • Manage financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and period-end close processes.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting activities across the region.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, automate processes, and optimise finance operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement and transformation initiatives focused on standardisation, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with finance and technology teams to support system enhancements and digital transformation projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with finance leaders, operational teams, and regional stakeholders.
  • Act as a key escalation point for complex financial and operational matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7-10 years of progressive finance experience
  • Shared Services leadership experience
  • Experience managing finance operations across multiple countries and legal entities
  • Proven people management experience
  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, and financial close processes
  • ERP systems experience
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Experience driving process improvement and operational efficiencies

Qualifications

  • CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent
  • Shared Services Centre transformation experience
  • Automation and digital transformation exposure
  • African regional finance experience
  • Manufacturing, FMCG, distribution, or multinational environments experience
  • Experience managing SLAs and KPI-driven service delivery models
