Johannesburg: Network Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the stability and security of our client’s network infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with extensive experience in IT networking to take on new challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist IT departments in resolving issues with their network equipment (routers, firewalls, comprehension boxes, etc.)
• Provide quality support by explaining the origin of problems and appropriate resolution practices
• Enhance knowledge base by updating documentation of operating procedures and instructions
• Ensure firmware upgrades for network equipment
• Independently manage site infrastructure transformation projects in compliance with client standards and best practices
• Perform network compliance audits to ensure security and high availability of the client’s infrastructure
• Adhere to client-defined SLAs and monitor them with your manager
• Design IT network infrastructure (WAN, MAN, LAN) for entities across the entire scope
• Translate functional needs of groups into technical designs
• Build and maintain standards and principles of architecture based on business department strategies and needs
• Ensure capacity planning for IT Infrastructure
• Manage IT Hardware resources (inventory and capacity planning)
• Guarantee data availability and quality by maintaining and improving performance and functionalities
• Manage scalabilities (volume monitoring, etc.) on the data access aspect
• Administer user access permissions and data security issues with the security engineer
• Manage version migrations
• Follow up on monitoring tools and study incidents to understand their severity and origins
• Participate in architecture projects of new implementations

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science
• Fortinet NSE 6 CCNP / ARUBA ACP Azure Networking certification
• Advantage experience with managing operations on environments with clustering, replication, load balancer ITIL Practitioner (V3) / ITIL Specialist (V4)
• ISO 27000 and other IT security training
• Prince2, PMP or equivalence

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science
