A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join their finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing payroll operations across multiple African regions while ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, reporting integrity, and process optimisation.

This role is ideal for a hands-on payroll professional with strong leadership ability and a passion for improving payroll systems and processes. You will work closely with HR, Finance, and operational stakeholders to ensure smooth payroll operations while managing payroll deadlines, statutory reporting, and payroll team performance within a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee payroll operations across South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia.
  • Manage payroll deadlines, controls, and payroll processing procedures.
  • Oversee Time and Attendance systems and payroll input accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate processing of overtime, leave, and payroll deductions.
  • Manage statutory submissions including PAYE, UIF, SDL, and COIDA.
  • Prepare payroll reconciliations, variance reports, and audit documentation.
  • Manage payroll systems, upgrades, and payroll-related process improvements.
  • Lead and support payroll and Time & Attendance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and company policies.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:

  • National Diploma or Degree in HR, Accounting, Payroll Administration, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ payroll administration experience.
  • 2–3 years’ experience within a supervisory or management role.
  • Multi-country payroll experience advantageous.
  • Strong payroll compliance and reporting experience essential.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (non-negotiable)
  • Sage 300 experience essential (non-negotiable)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management ability.
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
