Johannesburg: Planner – Supply Chain

About the Role

A respected player within the manufacturing and packaging sector is looking for a Planner to join their Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating production schedules, monitoring operational capacity, managing material requirements, and ensuring production targets and delivery deadlines are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily production schedules across various departments and operations.
  • Ensure production output aligns with customer orders, sales forecasts, and shipping deadlines.
  • Analyse production specifications, material requirements, plant capacity, labour, and tooling needs.
  • Monitor and adjust production plans to accommodate machine breakdowns, staffing shortages, and material delays.
  • Maintain and update systematic production and capacity planning schedules.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Maintenance, Sales, and Production teams to improve operational efficiency.
  • Expedite delayed work orders and resolve scheduling conflicts proactively.
  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager with ad hoc supply chain and operational tasks.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within production planning systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
  • Project Management Certificate/Diploma advantageous.
  • Production Management Diploma advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years planning experience within a printing and packaging manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of production planning and manufacturing processes.
  • Exposure to project-based work environments advantageous.
