WatersEdge Solutions is partnering with an established financial services business to recruit a highly skilled and proactive Senior Systems Administrator. This is a hands-on, critical infrastructure role responsible for the security, reliability, and performance of all IT systems. About the Role
As Senior Systems Administrator, you’ll manage company-wide networks, servers, backups, and security protocols. Youll be instrumental in designing, maintaining, and optimising the organisations IT environmentboth on-premises and in the cloud. This is a high-impact role that demands strong technical acumen and excellent problem-solving abilities in a dynamic business setting.
Key Responsibilities

Administer and optimise all IT infrastructure including LAN, WAN, VPN, firewalls, and servers

Implement and manage robust cybersecurity frameworks including monitoring, patching, and user access controls

Steer and support cloud migration (Azure) and ongoing hybrid infrastructure strategies

Conduct regular system backups and disaster recovery testing

Provide user training and support documentation

Manage telephony infrastructure, vendor relationships, and software licensing

Lead performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and system improvements

Collaborate with IT leadership to define and enforce operational and security policies
What Youll Bring

3+ years’ experience in infrastructure maintenance and support

In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity best practices

Strong expertise in Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs

Microsoft Azure experience, including cloud migration

Solid understanding of SQL backups and disaster recovery planning

Familiarity with backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault)

Experience with virtualisation platforms (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware)

Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python)

Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team
Nice to Have

BSc in Computer Science or related field

Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Azure Admin, CCNA, or Security+

Familiarity with tools like ManageEngine, SolarWinds, Zabbix, or Nagios
