About the Role

Agriplas, a leading manufacturer of irrigation equipment and systems in Northern Cape, South Africa, is seeking an experienced Automation Technician to join their Automation team. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach and be driven to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and test automation and fertigation systems
  • Provide technical support to colleagues, dealers, and end-users (remote and on-site)
  • Assist with technical projects and proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives
  • Support assembly and setup of irrigation, fertigation, control, radio, and IoT systems
  • Conduct testing of software, hardware, and internet interfaces
  • Perform panel wiring and work with controller hardware and software
  • Deliver customer-focused service, building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Manage stock control, planning, and field service administration
  • Carry out repairs and servicing of filters, fertigation equipment, and pumps

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electric, Electronic or Mechantronic Engineering
  • 3-5 years experience in similar technical design fields
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with role players
  • Proficient in English and Afrikaans
  • Practical mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and willingness to work hands-on
  • Flexible to work both on-site and in-office
  • Willingness to travel within the designated service area, in South Africa and surrounding countries
  • Valid drivers licence
