About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Yard Supervisor to join our team at Dante Group Ltd in KwaZulu-Natal. As a key member of our logistics operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and handling of containers within our container yard.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective movement, storage, and handling of containers, ensuring correct stacking and placement in line with operational plans.
- Monitor incoming and outgoing container traffic, ensuring timely loading/unloading operations.
- Supervise straddle carrier movements to support timely and accurate container handling.
- Maintain accurate records of container movements and inventory within the yard.
- Collaborate with the warehouse and shipping teams to ensure timely and accurate updates of container status.
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of yard equipment such as straddle carriers, shunting trucks & trailers, cleaning equipment & other.
- Liaise daily with the PKL P2DC co-ordinators to receive the 24hr Inbound P2DC transport plan for all Import containers as well as the empty container outbound plan.
Requirements
- Matric Diploma or Certificate in Road and Transport Management, Shipping or related field of study (advantageous)
- 2 – 5 years experience in a container yard or related logistics environment
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Experience in supervising container yards, shuttle truck operations, or straddle carrier movements
Qualifications
- Straddle Carrier / Reach Stacker / Code 10 or 14 licences (advantageous)
- Proficient in inventory management systems and yard management software
- Strong knowledge of container yard operations, equipment, and safety regulations
