Experience: Grade 12 National Diploma in Mining Engineering / BTech Mining / related qualification Advantageous. Surface Blasting Certificate for Coal Mines 35 years in a Senior Production / Supervisory role within an opencast environment. Proven experience in managing large teams Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Key Competencies: Strong Operational Leadership Planning & Execution Excellence Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Analytical thinking and problem solving. Demonstrated commitment to driving a zero-harm culture High level of accountability Job Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate daily mining production activities, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and pit operations. Ensure execution of mining activities in accordance with approved mine plans and support short-, medium-, and long-term operational planning. Implement and manage production schedules to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets. Lead, manage, coach, and develop Production Teams and associated support functions to drive operational performance. Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and regulatory standards, including the Mine Health and Safety Act. Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification, risk mitigation, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment. Manage operational costs and optimise resource utilisation through effective production, strip ratio, and blast cost management. Monitor equipment availability, utilisation, and operational performance to maximise efficiency and productivity. Ensure product quality standards are met, statutory and operational reporting is completed, and continuous improvement initiatives are driven.
