About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cashbook Clerk to join our Motor Retail Head Office team in Cape Town. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects related to the processing of bank accounts for our Western Cape dealerships within the group. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the largest independent automotive groups in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing, allocating, and reconciling bank accounts daily
  • Managing the flow of daily ad-hoc payments, including own review and coordination with others involved in the payment review process to ensure timelines are met according to standard operating procedures
  • Reporting to and working directly with the Financial Manager and, when necessary, other senior management
  • Assisting with other ad-hoc projects as required

Requirements

  • 3 or more years experience in a cashbook position
  • Ability to manage the volume of bank accounts and payments for a group rather than a single company
  • Sage/Pastel or CDK/Autoline/Kerridge or similar accounting systems experience advantageous (highly recommended)
  • Strong analytical skill set
  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Strong communication skills and confidence, as the position involves working directly with Dealer Principals, dealership teams, and the group’s Financial Managers
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, retail-driven environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines, particularly during month-end periods
