Pongola: Engineering Manager (GCC Factories)

About the Role

The Engineering Manager will oversee the factory’s multi-discipline production and maintenance engineering teams, responsible for ensuring the mill’s performance is improved and maintained through strategic planning and implementation of engineering strategies. This role requires a seasoned GCC Engineering Manager with experience in heavy industry to lead and manage the team effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement engineering strategies, policies, plans, and programmes aimed at improving and maintaining the mill’s performance.
• Compile and control expenditure on maintenance, operational, materials, employment, and capital budgets.
• Conceptualise, develop, and deliver capital expenditure projects.
• Develop, set, and uphold sound engineering and maintenance management practices and procedures.
• Perform performance management, including coaching and development.
• Report and investigate accidents, incidents, and implement preventative measures.

Requirements

• BTech/ BSc in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Government Certificate of Competency for Factories (GCC).
• 5 years’ experience in a management Engineering or Technical role.
• Knowledge of maintenance schedules and inspection, SHE procedures, and budget and cost control.
• Knowledge of sugar manufacturing, power generation, and cane operations.

Qualifications

Registration as a Professional in terms of the Engineering Professionals of South Africa Act, 114 of 1990 is an added advantage.
