Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

  • South African citizen
  • Level 4 Plastic Federation Injection Machine Setting Certificate (NQF6)
  • Problem-solving techniques
  • Assist with the training of the personnel
  • Ability to plan and direct resources as per shift requirements
  • At least 3 years experience in the following
    • IMM setting and process optimisation
    • Shift supervisory responsibility
    • Previous work experience in the plastics manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work unsupervised

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the activities required for the production department, monitor and advise on the performance of the production department and company production objectives
  • Ensure processes and products conform to the company and customer requirements
  • Ensure the company production objectives and targets (scrap %, etc.) are achieved, and motivate the quality improvement for products and processes
  • Stop delivery, production or development of a product/ process in the event where required procedures and quality standards are not achieved
  • This position involves shift work
  • Maximise the usage of all process equipment and personnel to supply the customers with quality products and on-time delivery
  • Ensure compliance with the quality management system (QMS)
  • Ensure the company complies with all environmental requirements and systems (EMS)
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of the production staff
  • Coordinate and manage all production staff
  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
  • Ensuring that targets are achieved (scrap %, cycle times, etc.)
  • Ensure products are manufactured to the production schedule and meet the customer quality and delivery requirements
  • Manage the setting of all injection moulding machines and any ancillary equipment
  • Ensure that production work instructions, e.g. setting sheets, inspection instructions, packaging and transport details are adequate and comply with
  • Maintain good housekeeping throughout
  • Assist the store’s controller when necessary
  • Review all non-conforming products together with the quality department and ensure that effective correction action is taken to prevent recurrence as and when required
  • Persuading reluctant staff to change their way of working to incorporate quality methods
  • Ensure that the agreed KPIs are maintained and achieved for yourself and your subordinates
  • Comply with the management policy document, departmental procedures, and practices
  • Comply with any other work-related instruction which is relayed via a superior and which is deemed to be necessary and reasonable
  • Can be requested to stand in for the absenteeism of another setter
  • Need to be available for overtime where production requirement is needed to do so
