About the Role
The High-end Restaurant Group based in Woodstock, Cape Town is seeking an experienced Area Manager to oversee the smooth day-to-day running of their restaurants in a designated area. The ideal candidate will demonstrate ownership and accountability while consistently improving restaurant operating standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the restaurants in your assigned area
- Ensure execution of correct operational procedures at all restaurants
- Stay tuned in with emerging trends that will affect the business
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability by consistently improving restaurant operating standards and taking necessary corrective action
- Monitor poor performing restaurants and implement corrective action plans to improve low profitability or poor operating restaurants
- Perform routine inspections of the restaurants to measure compliance with operational standards
- Liaise regularly with internal audit teams to ensure restaurants are achieving good audit scores
- Ensure strict compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and applicable local legislation at the restaurant level
- Monitor and report on operational and financial risks and create corrective action plans
- Provide leadership, coaching, and strategic direction to restaurant management teams
- Manage employee relations in line with company policies and procedures
- Ensure efficient labor management to meet service standards and cost
- Engage and maintain high morale among restaurant employees and management
- Conduct training and retraining of applicable employees
Requirements
- Grade 12
- A formal hospitality qualification (advantageous)
- Significant prior management experience (3-8 years) in sit-down restaurants, fast-food, or QSR
- Experience with POS systems, inventory software, and basic financial reporting
